Recall Alert: Amazon Recalls AmazonBasics Ceramic Space Heaters
Earlier today, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission released a massive recall of Amazon’s AmazonBasics 1500 Watt Ceramic Space Heaters due to overheating, which poses fire and burn hazards.
The recall affects roughly 377,000 space heater units.
According to official statements, Amazon received reports of the ceramic heater overheating, burning, or sparking. Two of those reports included minor damage to power outlets. There were no injuries associated with the incidents. These incidents were reported in the United States and Canada.
The original manufacturer, Ningbo Singfun Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., of China, which was identified in a lawsuit less than a year ago connected to a fire in Stroudsburg, PA.
The recall was initiated by Amazon itself under the CPSC’s Fast Track Recall program. Amazon has responded by issuing refunds to those who have directly purchased the affected heaters.
